PRIVACY POLICY

[ WHAT IS THIS SITE? ]
- www.hughes.team is a private, non-commercial website for the Hughes family in Northern Ireland: revision resources, games, a start page and a family planner (PlanBan).
- There is no advertising, nothing for sale, and no public sign-up.
- Because it is run by a family for its own use, much of it falls under the “domestic purposes” exemption in UK GDPR. We follow UK GDPR, PECR and the ICO’s Children’s Code anyway, because children use it.

[ ON YOUR DEVICE (LOCALSTORAGE) ]
- What: study and quiz progress, game high scores, timer settings, your theme, accessibility (SEN toolbar) settings and whether you’ve seen the notice at the bottom of the page.
- Where: only in your browser on this device. It isn’t sent to us or anyone else, and it doesn’t follow you to other devices.
- Moving address: the site used to live at family.hughes.team. On your first visit to www.hughes.team, the page quietly copies your saved progress across from the old address in this browser. Nothing leaves your device.
- How to clear it: clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
[ PLANBAN & FAMILY LOGINS ]
- Only family members have PlanBan accounts, set up by Dad.
- Account details: email address, display name, emoji and a scrambled (hashed) password. Nobody, including us, can read your password.
- What you add: plans, cards, dates, costs, links, comments, who’s going, and an activity log of changes. Everyone logged in to PlanBan can see these.
- Where: in a database on our own server (OVH, France), not with any other company.
- Why: so the family can plan things together. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- How long: until it’s deleted, or your account is removed. Ask Dad and he’ll remove your account and what you added.
- Failed logins: we record the IP address of failed login attempts to stop password guessing, and delete them after 24 hours.
[ COOKIES ]
- One cookie, hughes_sid, and only if you log in to PlanBan. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days and is deleted when you log out.
- It is strictly necessary for logging in, so we don’t need to ask first. No other cookies, and no tracking cookies.
[ SERVER LOGS ]
- Like every website, our web server keeps standard access logs: IP address, date and time, the page requested and your browser type.
- We use them only to keep the site secure and working. They are deleted automatically after about five weeks.

[ GOOGLE FONTS ]
- The retro fonts (VT323, Space Mono, Silkscreen, Lexend) load from Google. Your browser sends Google your IP address and basic request details when it fetches them.
- Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
[ WEATHER (OPEN-METEO) ]
- The weather on the home and community pages comes from Open-Meteo. Your browser asks Open-Meteo for the forecast, so it sees your IP address.
- We ask for a fixed local forecast. Your own location is never requested or sent.

[ LINKS TO OTHER SITES ]
- The Kids and Study pages link to other websites (BBC Bitesize, Duolingo and so on). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and some show adverts. Grown-ups: please check the ones younger children use.
[ BROWSER NOTIFICATIONS ]
- The Study Hub’s Pomodoro timer can show a notification when a session ends. Your browser asks permission first, and nothing is sent to us.

- No analytics or visitor tracking

- Children in the family use this site. The privacy settings are already on the safest option: there is nothing to switch off.
- Children’s revision and game progress stays on their own device.
- If a child has a PlanBan login, it holds only what’s listed above, and only the family can see it.
- Content is chosen to be family-friendly. Links to other sites open in a new tab.

- You can ask to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Just ask (see Contact). We’ll respond within a month.
- Data on your device: you can see or delete it yourself any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
- If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk.
